Gwelo Developments responded to the strong demand for quality office space in Darwin’s CBD with the Construction of the Woods Street Commercial Building and the Jacana House Office building, located side by side on the Corner of Woods and Knuckey Street in the Darwin CBD. Together these buildings will bring approximately 17000 square meters of Premium Grade office accommodation to the Darwin market.
Woods Street Commercial, was completed in October 2008 and comprises approximately 4000 square meters of office accommodation over six levels together with the ground floor retail area. Levels 1 through 5 provide floor plates of approximately 550 square meters whilst level 6 will provide approximately 660 square meters.
Gwelo Developments is a fore runner in Darwin in respect of environmentally sustainable initiatives and as such has entered into a NABERS Energy Commitment with the NSW Department of Environment & Climate Change to design, build and commission both Woods Street Office Buidlings to achieve a 4.5 Star NABERS Rating.
Gwelo intends to achieve this rating by the use of such initiatives as double glazed and tinted windows, the capture and recycling of storm water for use on the roof top gardens, the use of pre-tensioned floor slabs and pre-cast wall panels requiring less concrete and steel and by reusing the bi-product from excavations as land fill on other projects.
